Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
